課程概述 |
This is a one-year course designed to help students gain a foundation for college-level English writing. The emphasis will be put on the role of reading, the mastery of grammatical categories and structure, and the process and method of writing. During the semester, the course covers the fundamental aspects of academic writing, including the basic elements of the paragraph, the control of sentence structure and accuracy, several different writing patterns, the mechanics and format of writing, and the issues concerning citation and plagiarism. Students will participate in interactive workshops in class to practice prewriting, writing, revising, editing, peer editing, and proofreading. Students are expected to spend approximately two hours a week to prepare for class and complete course assignments. |
課程目標 |
This course aims to improve students’ writing proficiency and equip them with the skills essential to academic writing.
By the end of this semester, students are expected to:
1. receive practice in writing sentences and paragraphs.
2. write accurately and appropriately on a restricted range of topics and short tasks.
3. improve the grammatical accuracy of their writing.
4. review, edit, and correct their own and others’ work for both content and language. |
